Message from Sam Miranda

Our family have been making wine since the 1930’s, so I grew up with wine in my veins but it wasn’t until I turned 25 that I decided to come back into the industry and start at the bottom.

I have embraced the whole Italian lifestyle in everything I make and do, and this is shown through the high caliber wines I will continue to produce for you all to enjoy.

Salute!

FROM ALLEGRA MIRANDA – the 4th Generation of the Miranda Wine Making family

My decision to study wine science is deeply influenced by the rich heritage of my upbringing on a vineyard, where the legacy of winemaking flows through generations.

Witnessing my father’s dedication to the craft, I have always been captivated by the intricate processes that go into winemaking. From my early childhood memories of helping dad stomp on grapes to now helping dad with the full vintage period, it has always been something I love.

Growing up on a vineyard instilled in me a profound appreciation for the artistry and science behind winemaking, as well as a deep-seated respect for the traditions passed down through my family.

Choosing to study wine science is not only a tribute to their tireless efforts but also a personal commitment to continue their legacy. It’s an opportunity for me to delve deeper into the complexities of viticulture and oenology, armed with the invaluable wisdom that has come from generations of experience.

Sam’s notes on Botrytis

Botrytis wines are one of my favorite styles of wine. It is always a miracle how vibrant and bright these wines turn out in the bottle when you consider they are made from grapes affected by the Botrytis Fungi that causes the grapes to literally rot on the vine. The resultant dessert wines are among some of the world’s greatest wines and can age gracefully for 20-30 years.

The palate is luscious yet finishes with a bright grip of acid on the palate. A perfect match for Pannacotta, Pavlova or as an accompaniment to a cheese board.

Col Fondo Prosecco

Col Fondo literally means  With The Bottoms

Col Fondo goes through a secondary fermentation in bottle with the yeast lees kept to preserve the wine and add complexity to the palate.  It is recommended to gently roll the bottle prior to opening to lightly stir the lees so the wine has a cloudy appearance in the glass.  Grown at our Myrrhee Estate vineyard in the cooler upper reaches of the King Valley. Lemon/lime aromas with a creamy toasty character on the nose enhance the savoury dry palate that finishes crisp yet soft on the palate. A classic style well suited to our Prosecco tasting platter or a range of charcuterie and hard cheeses.

No Preservatives or Sugar added!
